Present Continuous Tense ~ Belajar Bahasa Inggris

When we talk about something that isn’t finished yet by the time we speak.

For example :
Anna is in her car. She is on way to work. She is driving to work.

This means that she is driving now, at the time of speaking. The action is not finished.

am is are + ing

I am driving

She is writing

They are catching the balls

I am doing something,  I am in the middle of doing something, I have started doing it and I have not finished yet.

Please don’t make such a noise ; I am working

Where is Margareth ; She is taking a bath

Please take attention that the action is not necessarily happening at the time of speaking.

For example, Anna and Tom are talking at the café

Tom : I am reading an interesting book ; it lend it to you when I have finished it.

Tom is not reading the book  at the time of speaking. It means that he has started reading that book but not finished it yet.

Another example as follow :

Bambang wants to study in England ; so he is studying English now.  (amin)

Bambang perhaps is not studying English exactly  at the time of speaking, but, he is currently learning English

We also use Present Continuous Tense when we talk about things happening in a period around now (marked by time like today / this week / this month)
